This module is an analog drum sound. It was designed to be built using a minimum of parts and no difficult to obtain parts. It was initially designed for a "disco tom" type sound, but Michael Barton is more impressed with it's bass-drum like sounds.

It has the following controls:

  • Amplitude Decay
  • Frequency Modulation Decay
  • Depth of Frequency Decay
  • Baseline Frequency
  • External Frequency CV Depth

It has just two inputs, one for a trigger and one for external CV.

Fun and useful module. Very easy build.Review by Rich
The BMC018 Analog Drum module is a great project for beginners in DIY module building. The board is very well laid out and constructed. The parts list is very easy to obtain from local supply companies such as Mouser or Digi-Key.

While originally designed for Eurorack the module adapts easily to MU format. I created my own panel and used flying wires for the potentiometers rather than soldering the pots directly to the board. There is a minor resistor change to accommodate a +/-15 volt power supply.

The module produces some very cool sounds reminiscent of the Syndrums of the late '70s and early '80s. Frequencies ranging from low booming kick drums to high pingy toms can be set up. The CV input also helps the module produce some very neat sounds.

I'd definitely recommend the module. (Posted on 11/5/2016)
